Essential Functions:

The Wang lab is seeking a creative, motivated scientist for a postdoctoral position immediately available studying epigenomics in developmental biology, cancer, evolution, and in big bio-data integration (genomic, imaging, etc). The Wang lab leverages large-scale genomic and epigenomic data to make new advances on questions of cell fate acquisition, gene regulatory mechanisms in cancer, and contribution of transposable elements to genome biology, chromatin architecture, and evolution, as well as environmental epigenomics. The lab develops computational and experimental approaches to each of these topic areas. The lab is the home of the WashU Epigenome Browser which provides public access to data generated by large consortiums including ENCODE, Roadmap Epigenomics, and 4D Nucleome Network.

The Wang lab is housed in the Center for Genome Sciences & Systems Biology at Washington University and has the advantages of a large, collaborative center with several core facilities available. This position is in the Department of Genetics, Center for Genome Science & Systems Biology and is located on the Medical School Campus.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in one or more of the following areas preferred:  genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, cancer biology, molecular cell & developmental biology, evolutionary biology, computer sciences, or any other relevant field.

Having many of the following skills will make the candidate ideal and competitive:

be creative and skilled at experimental design and data analysis

have a strong computational genomics background as well as a broad understanding of developmental biology, cancer biology, and/or evolutionary biology

have a strong publishing record

have experience manipulating large datasets (genomic data and/or imaging data) and be familiar with bioinformatics tools and databases for genomics and epigenomics research

be proficient in R and/or Python or have otherwise strong programming and statistical analysis abilities

be proficient in JavaScript

work well in a collaborative environment of graduate students, postdocs, and staff scientists

have strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills

Recent PhD in a relevant field or experience in field.
