The Jerome Laboratory in the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is recruiting a Post-Doctoral Fellow to conduct research to evaluate curative antiviral gene editing and gene therapy strategies for persistent viral infections.
The individual will be involved in evaluation of gene therapeutics in small animal models of HSV infection, and possibly HBV and HIV. The ideal candidate should have experience working with small animals, and would have a background in virology and/or experience working with gene editing technologies.
Techniques that will be used include cell culture, flow cytometry, molecular biology, next-generation sequencing, and others. In addition to performing bench experiments and animal studies, the individual is expected to help write manuscripts, grant proposals and present research at scientific meetings.
Seeking a candidate with a Ph.D. in the field of Immunology/Virology. Knowledge of molecular biology, virology, and gene editing, plus experience working with small animals is preferred. The candidate should be a self-starter and be able to work independently in a team environment. Strong analytical, writing, communication (in English), and problem solving skills are desired.
