The Center for Virtualization and Applied Spatial Technologies (USF CVAST) in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of South Florida seeks a full-time Post-Doctoral position in digital paleontology. The post-doctoral fellow will assist in advancing the Center’s research agenda. A PhD in Biology, Geology, Paleontology, or related field is required. The candidate will have expertise in some aspects of photogrammetry, laser or light scanning, CT reconstruction, scientific visualization, or virtual reality as applied to fossil or extant specimens and online research and education. Experience in 3D analytical methods, particularly in musculoskeletal modeling software (SIMM, OpenSim, Multibody Dynamics Analysis) is highly desirable. The candidate must have a record of publication, and an ability to write well and contribute to external funding proposals.
This is a full-time, two year position (with the possibility of renewal for an additional year).
The Center for Virtualization and Applied Spatial Technologies (CVAST) is an interdisciplinary unit tasked with creating an integrated approach for digital research and education efforts at the University of South Florida. CVAST is also a global center for research and the application of digital techniques to science and humanities research with projects throughout Europe, Latin America, North America, and the Arctic. The candidate will be expected to pursue international digital projects, funding, and publication.
Salary is $47,500-50,000 per year plus benefits. Position will be filled as soon as there is an excellent candidate.
Successful candidate will work with the USF Tampa Library to produce and curate digital collections as liaise with USF CVAST and the USF Tampa Library on digital projects.
