This position will primarily focus on investigating the synthesis and implementation of anion exchange membrane materials in fuel cells and electrolysis applications. The candidate will be responsible for the fabrication of membrane electrode assembly (MEAs), experimental design and the subsequent interpretation of performance of fuel cell tests. An acceptable candidate should have an understanding of electrode fabrication, electrochemical processes and diagnostics relevant to fuel cells/electrolyzers. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to: 1) AC impedance, 2) surface area measurements, 3) performance measurements (isolating specific areas of overpotential losses), and 4) durability measurements (cataloguing losses and relating losses to specific operating conditions). In general, candidates should have a demonstrated track record of success in addressing fundamental and applied science questions and devising solutions to challenging problems.
Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science & engineering, or related field. Record of publications/presentations in areas relevant to NREL projects. An acceptable candidate should have experience with membrane electrode assembly (MEA) fabrication, testing, and electrochemical kinetic modeling. Knowledge of, or experience with both Pt and PGM-free electrocatalyst materials is strongly desired. Please note that in order to be considered an applicant for any position at NREL you must submit an application form for each position for which you believe you are qualified. What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
