We are seeking a dynamic scientist with immunology or immuno-oncology experience to join a team of scientists that are developing Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADCs) spanning target identification, lead selection, and development into clinical candidates. In this role, you will have the opportunity to impact Mersana’s growing pipeline of leading edge ADCs through discovering and delivering innovative strategies aimed at modulating tumor immune responses. You will utilize multidisciplinary approaches to select targets for Mersana’s ADC platforms and support chemistry teams in discovery and optimization of novel ADC platforms geared towards expanding Mersana’s drug discovery pipeline. This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated PhD scientist with a passion to develop cancer therapeutics to immerse her/himself into pharmaceutical drug development from concept to early clinical development. What you will bring to Mersana is a deep understanding of tumor immunology, a mechanism driven approach to drug development, strong abilities in critical thinking, research/technical skills, independence, flexibility, and willingness to learn and implement new technologies .
Collaborate with analytical chemistry to design mechanism driven strategies to develop ADCs against tumor and immune related molecular targets
Actively contribute to the discovery of novel ADCs through the rational selection of drug targets and payloads that impact patient unmet needs in oncology and immuno-oncology; design, execute, and interpret study results
Act as Biology lead on multidisciplinary team projects discovering innovative ADC platforms, contribute strategy, and execute on studies to support discovery
Identify/follow cutting edge oncology and immuno-oncology research to develop innovative approaches for target discovery, adopt promising leads and execute on development
Closely collaborate with analytical chemistry, conjugation and pharmacology scientists to advance project team goals
A PhD in cancer biology, immunology, cell biology, pharmacology or related scientific discipline
Minimum 3 years of postdoctoral experience in academia or industry
Experience in developing and leading research in oncology including immuno-oncology
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based organization, collaborate cross-functionally, develop trusted relationships and build alignment and engagement around key initiatives, priorities and goals
Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently and effectively in a highly dynamic setting
Deliver high-value data in a timely manner and effectively communicate findings internally to the project team and to the company as a whole
Track record of high quality publications and presentations
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Title and compensation commensurate with experience and level of responsibility.
