Job Description

(PNNL) is recruiting a creative, energetic, and collaboration-oriented postdoctoral scientist for a project that will build process-level understanding of the factors controlling the concentration of ice-nucleating particles (INPs) in marine air. The successful candidate will blend modeling of atmospheric transport with analysis of INP and aerosol measurements, remote sensing, and other data sources, to attribute sources of variability in observed INP concentrations in marine air.
The successful candidate will be expected to publish scientific results in peer-reviewed journals, to interact directly with a rich network of experts in areas such as atmospheric processes, surface-atmosphere interactions, modelling, and observations, and to effectively communicate research results at conferences and workshops.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience with running, analyzing and possibly modifying global or regional atmospheric models.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams as well as ability to independently pursue original ideas and new directions
Interest in contributing to an active intellectual environment
Demonstrated record of publications in peer reviewed journals
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants who have skills and experience in some of the following areas, and who are interested in developing new skills in additional areas, are encouraged to apply:
Demonstrated expertise in atmospheric aerosol transport and microphysical processes
Familiarity with high performance computing, and statistical analysis methods
Familiarity with experimental methods for characterizing aerosols and ice-nucleating particles
Experience with computer languages usually used for climate modeling and analysis (Fortran, Python, R, NCL, or other analysis languages)
Familiarity with Linux/Unix computational environments
Ability to think critically and develop and test hypotheses using a combination of measurements and models
PhD in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field.
