Van Andel Research Institute
The Shi lab is among the leading groups in the study of regulation and recognition of histone modifications. The Shi lab has identified several novel readers of histone methylation and acetylation, such as PHD finger, PWWP and YEATS domains (
). The current research focus of the laboratory is to identify and characterize novel epigenetic readers and to determine their roles in human cancer with the long-term goal to translate the knowledge to the clinic.
The candidate postdocs will have the opportunity to work on elucidating role of epigenetic modifiers and epigenomic landscape in lung cancer or conducting CRISPR/Cas9-mediated high throughput screening to identify novel epigenetic regulators as therapeutic targets in human cancers. Candidates should have a Ph.D. or equavelent in biochemistry, molecular biology or cell biology. Knowledge in structural biology or experience in CRISPR screening is preferred. Successful candidates should have a track record of high-impact peer-reviewed publications and demonstration of independency and responsibility.
