Postdoctoral Fellow | Molecular Medicine | Keane Lai Lab
Position Summary and Key Responsibilities:
A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available, within the Department of Molecular Medicine at the Beckman Research Institute of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***., to identify novel molecular and cellular mechanisms of liver and pancreatic carcinogenesis. We seek applications from candidates with expertise in biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology, with strong interests in cancer metabolism and translational research utilizing mouse models of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) as well as human tissues/cells. The environment of the Beckman Research Institute is highly collaborative and these projects will involve multiple interactions with other research groups and core laboratories across our Institution.
The ability to work independently, to participate in highly collaborative projects, and to contribute intellectually to the development of the research are requisites for the Postdoctoral Fellow position. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for: 1) developing, conducting, and leading highly technical research projects as assigned by the Principal Investigator; 2) analyzing research data and providing interpretations; 3) contributing to the development of research documentation for publication and preparing technical and progress reports and experimental records; and 4) presenting research results internally as well as extramurally.
Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:
Candidates for the Postdoctoral Fellow position should have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree(s), and in-depth experience with the following: 1) mouse models, including breeding, maintenance, dosing (IV, SC, IP, and PO), survival and non-survival surgery, and harvesting of tissues/blood; 2) mouse genotyping; 3) immunoblotting; 4) immunoprecipitation, including protein immunoprecipitation (IP), protein complex immunoprecipitation (Co-IP), chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP), and RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP); 5) RNA and DNA extraction and purification; 6) RT-qPCR and qPCR and conventional PCR; 7) RNA-Seq; 8) gel electrophoresis; 9) primary cell culture; 10) maintenance and propagation of cell lines; 11) organoids; 12) lentiviral, adenoviral, and AAV transduction; 13) luciferase-reporter assay; 14) collection/processing of tissues for frozen sections, in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, and cell culture; and 15) microscopy/imaging and computer cataloguing of data.
Candidates should have NO MORE than five (5) years of postdoctoral training experience.
Candidates should be highly motivated individuals with the ability to work in a team environment and with good oral and written communication skills in English.
