The Ecosystem Sciences Team at the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow with expertise in experimental soil science, soil carbon biogeochemistry, or environmental microbiology. An additional understanding of soil physics and water movement through soils, or of soil chemistry (including the use of isotopic tracers) is desirable. Familiarity with soil C models at any scale (microbial to ecosystem-scale) would be an asset, but is not required.
Our research focuses on characterizing and describing how fine-scale soil processes are regulated in soil, and how they translate to ecosystem scale phenomena. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding soil carbon protection mechanisms and the coupling of soil carbon with other elemental cycles. The position includes opportunities to conduct research from field to lab, with interdisciplinary collaborations with statisticians, computational scientists, and molecular biologists.
We require someone with strong data analysis and statistical skills and a proven publication record. The candidate should have excellent communication skills with a strong interest in multi-disciplinary, collaborative research. The candidate should also have an interest in applying new approaches and knowledge to science problems associated with ecosystem responses to global climate change.

Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.
Must have experience working with soils. The ideal candidate will have experience in laboratory techniques and field sampling.
Demonstrated ability to handle and analyze diverse types of datasets (including high-dimensional omics data) using contemporary scripting languages such as R, MATLAB, and/or Python.
Experience and willingness to work in diverse and potentially remote field settings, though the emphasis is on laboratory research.
Strong written and oral communication skills with significant motivation to publish in the peer reviewed literature.
Strong interest in team-based interdisciplinary science, with the willingness and ability to work independently when required.
Must have completed a doctorate degree in soil science, environmental science, microbiology, ecology, or related discipline.
