We seek a postdoctoral researcher, with a passion for solving challenging problems in chemical analysis, to join the Chemical Physics and Analysis (CPA) Group. Research in the CPA group is designed to provide a fundamental, molecular-level understanding of condensed phase chemistry by extending the experimental characterization and description of chemical reactions to encompass the effects of condensed media and interfaces. Areas of research include studying reaction mechanisms in liquids and at liquid interfaces, high-energy processes at interfaces, models of the condensed phase, and cluster spectroscopy and dynamics. State-of-the-art experimental techniques are used to acquire quantitative experimental data that are amenable for detailed analysis and kinetic modeling. The successful candidate should have a background in the physical sciences or engineering.
Candidates must have received a PhD within the past five years (60 months) or within the next 8 months from an accredited college or university.
Relevant experience should include a subset of any of the following areas
Surface science techniques and ultrahigh vacuum
Numerical kinetic/mathematical modeling
Generation and characterization of molecular beams
Infrared vibrational spectroscopy
Dynamics, kinetics, and thermodynamics
Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
Ability to quantitatively analyze, interpret, and model experimental data
Proficient in written and verbal communication
Independent and highly motivated
Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics or equivalent discipline
