Postdoctoral Fellow - Antiviral Innate Immunity and Tumor Suppression
A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available immediately in the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute, Department of Cancer Biology.
The area of study concerns the molecular basis for the antiviral and antitumor activities of interferon.
The OAS-RNase L system is a frontline host defense against pathogenic viruses that contributes to the survival of higher vertebrates.
Our studies aim to identify and investigate protein targets that mediate host cell resistance to viruses while minimizing the threat of excessive RNase L activation to the host. The data obtained may contribute to identifying therapeutic strategies for viral infections, cancer and a genetic disease that we have linked to the OAS-RNase L pathway.
An exceptional and interactive research environment with core facilities is available.
A Ph.D. with emphasis in virology, cancer biology, biochemistry, or related fields is required.
Expertise in protein and nucleic acid biochemistry is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and capable of substantial intellectual contributions to the research.
