City Rochester State Minnesota Telecommute No Department Laboratory Medicine & Pathology Why Mayo Clinic The Clinical Mass Spectrometry Development Lab develops and validates clinical tests on state-of-the-art LC-MS/MS platforms. Our laboratory partners with the Clinical Mass Spectrometry Core Laboratory and the Clinical Forensic Toxicology Laboratory to provide clinical testing on specimens received from Mayo campus and the regional practice. The Clinical Mass Spectrometry Development Laboratory draws upon the expertise of mass spectrometry specialists focused in Endocrine, Immunology, Toxicology and Therapeutic Drug Monitoring specialties. Position description The Clinical Development Associate develops, evaluates, and transfers complex laboratory tests / methodologies from translational research into the clinical laboratory providing intellectual and scientific expertise. Primarily focuses on development of new, complex methods which require the acquisition, modification and/or use of new technology. Maintains complete and accurate documentation of data generated and work performed. Organizes new method validation data, finalizes data for publication and peer review. Presents the results of development projects at national and international professional meetings. Demonstrates expertise in scientific writing and submits manuscripts for publication; publishing as first author. Makes final recommendation to the laboratory directors and supervisors in the evaluation of laboratory equipment, instrumentation, procedures, and computer software and hardware. Direct reporting relationship to the supervisor of the laboratory. Receives direction on project assignments and prioritization from the Consultant/Laboratory Director/Development Technologist Coordinator and Supervisor. **A two-year commitment to this position is required**. Visa sponsorship not available for this position Qualifications Doctoral degree (PhD) in chemistry or a human biological science and two years postdoctoral experience working on complex laboratory test development. **We will consider graduates or students graduating within six months**. Additional qualifications ALL MUST be included for your application to be considered: *CV/Resume *Cover Letter *Transcripts (unofficial copy accepted) * A NACES International Equivalency Evaluation for any foreign degrees. *Internal candidates must provide their past three performance appraisals. Protein/peptide expertise, including post-translational protein modifications. Minimum of 5 years of mass spectrometry experience, developed and validated laboratory tests on a variety of mass spectrometry platforms including triple quads, Orbi-trap (Q-Exactive), and TOF. Must have presented at a minimum of five regional or national venues and is first author on a minimum of six full-length peer-reviewed articles. Experience in grant writing, developing standard operating procedures, intellectual property disclosure, and validation documentation is preferred. Superior analytical and scientific competence with laboratory procedures is necessary. Experience with a variety of analytical techniques is required. Must be a leader in the task of complex laboratory test development, work independently, and be self-directed. Attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Exemption status Exempt Compensation Detail Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $2,696.80, based on a full-time position.
