Responsibilities* 40% - Using quantitative, in vitro biochemical methods to characterize protein-protein interactions, research will clone bacterial expression constructions; bacterial protein expression, purification, and characterization; measuring kinetic binding constants including on-rates, off-rates, and dissociation constants using biolayer interferometry and fluorescences polarization and intensity assays.\u00a0 30% - Analyzing data, summarizing results, drafting and preparing manuscripts for submission. 15% - Collaborating and mentoring\u00a0junior members of the lab. 15% - Assist with shutting down the lab by August 31, 2019, including proper handling of low-level radioactive and chemical waste per federal, state, local and university policies. Required Qualifications* PhD in Biochemistry, with a minimum of four (4) years of post-doctoral research experience in bacterial protein expression, purification, and characterization; two (2) or more years experience with optimizing and using bio-layer interferometry and fluorescent assays to measure protein binding rates and affinities; minimum four (4) years working with low level radio-labeled chemicals to measure rate constants and binding affinities; familiarity working with GTPases and protein post-translational modifications; experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; experience shutting down and prepare biochemical labs for moving.\u00a0 Desired Qualifications* Familiarity working with campus core and radiological waste disposal facilities; experience independently designing, conducting, and analyzing research experiments; experience drafting and publishing manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.
