Overview The Noble Research Institution, LLC is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on research projects to improve legumes and other cover crops (i.e. hairy vetch, annual medics and\/or crimson clover) for cover crop production using genomics and molecular breeding tools. The primary activities include phenotypic and genotypic characterization of germplasm populations, marker development and QTL discovery for cover crop traits of interest. Research will be conducted in the laboratory of Dr. Suresh Bhamidimarri. This temporary position is funded through a grant from the Foundation for Food and Agricultural Research. Funding is anticipated to be renewed annually based upon performance and funding availability and is scheduled to end on or before February 28, 2022. EOE Minorities\/Females\/Protected Veterans\/Disabled Responsibilities The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for the design and implementation of experiments in the lab, field and greenhouse to study primarily hairy vetch, annual medics and\/or crimson clover\u00a0germplasm, research populations and breeding pedigrees. Other duties of the position will include, but are not limited to, diligent and timely design and implementation of genotyping and phenotyping activities, complete data analysis and interpretation, preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and participation in the Institute\u2019s professional development program. Qualifications Applicants should have a PhD in plant breeding, genetics, genomics or related area in addition to excellent written and verbal communication skills. The successful candidate should be self-motivated to work independently and also be a good team member. Experience with plant breeding, molecular breeding, genotyping-by-sequencing, high-throughput SNP genotyping, genome-wide association studies, and genomic selection is preferred. A strong background in statistics (SAS, R, etc.) packages, quantitative genetics and genomics software is also preferred.
