The DMPI is a multi- and inter-disciplinary Institute at Duke University encompassing basic and translational investigators across a variety of scientific disciplines. Our mission is to produce integrated multi-omics and physiologic profiles of chronic human diseases, and to use such profiles to develop new disease detection strategies, novel therapies, and insights into disease mechanisms. We are currently seeking a highly motivated individual with relevant skills for a new Postdoctoral Associate position.
The Postdoctoral Associate will work in the laboratory of Dr. Simon Gregory whose research is focused on identifying the genomic, genetic, and epigenetic underpinnings of complex diseases. This position will perform a variety of intermediate and advanced statistical and technical activities for the design of academic research studies and work within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team. Specifically, the project will involve analyzing extant microarray-based epigenomics data and clinical outcome variables in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease to identify longitudinal markers of change within the disease, in addition to assessing biomarkers of clinical progression using the same clinical dataset together with de novo RNA-Seq data.
The candidate will minimally require a Ph.D. degree in a related discipline, including but not limited to statistics, biostatistics, computational biology, statistical genetics or related field, and strong skills in statistical analysis software to manage and analyze data. Previous experience analyzing microarray-based epigenomic and RNA-Seq data with clinical outcome data is preferable. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are essential.
