A post-doctoral research fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Aaron Hata at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center and Harvard Medical School. The focus of the Hata Lab is to understand how acquired resistance develops to targeted therapies and immunotherapies for lung cancer and to develop novel therapeutic strategies to overcome these resistance mechanisms. We are integrated with the MGH Thoracic Oncology group to address clinically relevant biological questions. At the foundation of our research program is a robust translational infrastructure that enables generation of patient-derived laboratory models that faithfully recapitulate clinical disease. Our research incorporates a wide range of approaches, including cutting-edge single cell genomics techniques and high-throughput drug-screening, as well as hypothesis-driven basic mechanistic approaches.

We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow to study how molecular mechanisms of resistance evolve in lung cancer cell clones during treatment. This has the potential to yield fundamental biological insights into tumor evolution and response to therapy, as well as lead to major therapeutic advances in the treatment of lung cancer. The fellow will oversee 1-2 independent laboratory research projects that incorporate diverse experimental techniques including primary cell culture, cellular assays, molecular biology, genomics and in vivo mouse studies. The fellow will also interface with diverse team of collaborators including clinical oncologists and computational biologists.

The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in cell biology and molecular biology techniques, demonstrate creative and innovative thinking and possess excellent communication and leadership skills. To be considered, applicants must have received a PhD or MD within the past three years and have at least one first author publication. Prior research experience and strong publication record in the field of cancer research is strongly preferred. In addition, the applicants should have demonstrated exemplary leadership capacity either within the laboratory environment or in some other pursuit.

Apply with:

1. Cover letter highlighting your scientific research interests, career goals and summary of notable achievements including publications and awards

2. CV or NIH Biosketch

3. Contact email addresses for three references
