postdoctoral research associate position in the area of Plant Molecular Nematology

is available immediately in the Department of Plant

Sciences, University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN under the direction of Dr.

Tarek Hewezi. The successful candidate will employ interdisciplinary

approaches including molecular biology, biochemistry,

and genomics techniques to functionally characterize soybean protein kinase

candidates that regulate plant response to soybean cyst nematode infection.

 

LOCATION: Department of Plant Sciences, University of Tennessee,

Knoxville, TN

 

EFFECTIVE DATE: May 1, 2018

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will;

- Develop and test hypotheses related to the function of candidate

soybean protein kinases in plant-cyst nematode interaction in order to genetically

engineer soybean for resistance.  

- Perform research experiments,

analyze data, draw conclusions, and summarize the significance of results.

- Contribute to scientific

publications, conferences and patent applications.

- Work closely with graduate

students and the principal investigator in executing research objectives.','!*!MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A Ph.D. in Plant Biology or related fields is required. The successful

candidate should have a good publication record, strong written and oral communication skills, and demonstrated

expertise in plant

molecular biology and biochemistry. Expertise in RNA-seq analysis, protein-protein interactions, and

molecular nematology is highly desirable.

appointment is available immediately and is for one year, with potential for

annual renewal based on performance and availability of fundsInterested
