The Micro & Optoelectronics team at GE Global Research is looking for candidates who have recently completed a doctoral program and are interested in continuing as a Micro & Optoelectronics post-doctoral researcher. Research areas of interest include integrated photonics, distributed photonic sensing, and optical systems for harsh, industrial applications.
The team pushes the state-of-art to enable new capabilities for GE business units and creating IP for a broad set of applications for GE businesses and beyond.
As a member of the Micro & Optoelectronics team, you will...
â€¢ Work with a team of multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and technicians pushing the state-of-the-art in photonic devices and systems.
â€¢ Conduct research and development of optical devices, including nanophotonics, guided wave, and optoelectronic integration using modeling and experimental skills.
â€¢ Communicate status updates with key stake holders within and outside GE Global Research.
â€¢ Develop and present research plans, internal to GE and to outside agencies.
â€¢ Present research at conferences and publish in leading journals.
Recent graduate of an accredited doctor program with a focus on Optics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or related field.
Experience in the design, optimization, prototyping and testing of optoelectronics systems, integrated photonic devices, and/or fiber-optic sensing systems.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. You will need to have valid, on-going authorization to work in the U.S.
Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.
Must be 18 years or older.

â€¢ Experience with simulation tools such as finite-element and multi-physics analysis.
â€¢ Experience with optoelectronic devices such as sources, modulators, detectors, fiber sensors, and equipment suppliers.
â€¢ Strong working knowledge of optics, photonics, and instrumentation.
â€¢ Familiarity with optoelectronic and fiber-optic laboratory instruments including data acquisition systems, lasers, driving circuits, detectors, spectrum analyzers, and optical power meters.
â€¢ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
â€¢ Ability and desire to work in a team environment with a goal for a career in industrial research.
â€¢ Experience in proposal writing.
