Post-doctoral researcher in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology to study Genomics of Psychiatric Disorders
The Mood Disorders Center, an interdisciplinary research group within the Department of Psychiatry and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, seeks a post-doctoral researcher with biostatistical, bioinformatics and/or systems biology expertise to work with next-generation sequencing data and downstream analyses. We are currently involved in a number of large-scale next-generation sequencing projects of Major Depressive Disorder and Bipolar Disorder, utilizing a wide variety of molecular approaches, including whole genome sequencing, methylation arrays and RNA sequencing.
The successful candidate will be funded under a NIMH T32 grant supporting postdoctoral research (MH014592) and will work with a well-funded multidisciplinary research group consisting of geneticists, bioinformaticians, and clinical scientists focused on studying the etiology of severe mood disorders. We are seeking talented, self-driven individuals who are interested in applying molecular omics technology to the study of severe mood disorders. The duration of the post-doc will be at least 2 years, with an option to extent for an additional year. Since this is a federally funded position, successfully applications are required to be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
Doctoral degree in human genetics, bioinformatics, computational biology or another quantitative science
Strong computational biology skills, including proficiency in python and R
Familiarity with next-generation sequencing data, with a focus on downstream statistical applications
